and advertisements, and participatingin a wide range of events.
Nishio works in a wide range of styles, including scripts used on official seals,
clerical script, block script, semi-cursive script, "grass" script,
and originaltypefaces and designs.
She is responsible for designing the Kyushu NationalMuseum's logo
and giving a calligraphy display for the opening performances
at the World RoadAssociation's Paris and Mexico Meets.
Nishio is active both within and outside of Japan.
We have begun developing a range of products based on Japanese themes
in collaboration with Nishio.
"Sippo" Brand Concept
Sippo means "tail" in English, evoking a cute, playful image.
We want our products to be a lovable, charming part of people's lives.
A tail is very expressive: It serves many purposes and can convey myriad
emotions like happiness, invitation, intrigue, and more.
Humans, however, lack this expressive organ.
Just as our ancestors' expressive tails have been lost to history,
our goal isto unearth and repurpose a range of good ideas from the past --
things that never went out of style.
What forms does this "sippo" take? In Japan, it means the ideals of harmony, courtesy,
and classical arts, elements of our history that threaten to grow dim.
Our mission is to get back to the roots of this Japanese "sippo" and offer up
our discoveries within Japan and throughout the world.
